Has the virus that caused Covid 19 mutated?

Covid-19 surely made every person on this earth suffer. From the kids to the elderly, most of us have been hugely affected by this pandemic. Starting in December 2019, a district in Wuhan reported that a deadly virus known as Covid-19 has infected and killed a human. Since then, this virus has gone on to affect nearly every country on this earth and also a large number of our population. People that are infected by this virus will develop Covid-19 symptoms (simptom Covid-19) such as fever, cough and also shortness of breath. Besides that, there are some people that are infected with Covid-19 and reported to have other types of symptoms. They reported to experience symptoms such as headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal discomfort and also joint pain. All the Covid-19 patients will be seriously affected and most of the elderly that are infected will unluckily die from this infection.

Obviously, the impact of Covid-19 is very big. Children cannot continue their education at school anymore, teenagers cannot afford to meet their friends, working parents lose their jobs and the elderly are the most affected. Not just that, most of the countries are struggling to solve a lot of internal issues, especially the economic crisis that was heavily destroyed during this pandemic. Not enough of this bad news, it is now reported that the Covid-19 virus has mutated. Does a mutating Covid-19 virus offer a threat to us? Is it more dangerous and more importantly, is it significant? This article will try to discuss this issue.

It all happens somewhere in May 2020, a new Covid-19 virus strain was reported in Australia and also Brazil. Then, a new type of strain is reported in the United Kingdom. It is found out that this new strain has an ability to infect and kill efficiently when compared to its predecessor. After that, some other new strains were also reported in South America. Since then, a lot of countries have reported the same cases. Well, this is not a new thing. Scientists actually expected this virus to mutate and produce new strain. In fact, all viruses in this world will behave that way. However, the problem is that will we be able to fight this new strain of viruses?

After the discovery of some Covid-19 new strains, researchers have concluded that some of this strain is indeed more powerful than the original virus. In other words, it can infect more people and the severity is increased. However, they also concluded that these are the things that are not worrying. Why? After they have done their research, they concluded that these new strains can be killed by the developed vaccine. Although the virus has mutated, it still maintains its original form, which makes it the target for the vaccine. Hence, the newly-developed vaccine can still recognize this virus and hopefully, eradicate it for good. They also stated that the booster injection can further increase our immunity towards Covid-19 and their new strains.

In conclusion, the Covid-19 virus mutation was expected and the formation of its new strains remains insignificant at this time. However, obviously we cannot let our guard down. Although Covid-19 virus released its new strain of viruses, the prevention still remains the same. We must follow every protocol and guideline that was highlighted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in preventing this infection. Remember to always sanitize your hand, clean your environment, practice social distancing, wear a mask in a crowded place, avoid a crowded place if you can and always remember to remind and take care of each other. Together, we can.
