How A Social Entrepreneurship Programme In Singapore Changed My Life

Our world is far from a utopia or a place where everything is perfect. As long as we keep our eyes and ears open, we will see communities and hear stories about them experiencing concerns and issues that lower their quality of life and contribute to the world’s imbalance. If you notice or learn about the situations around you, do not lose hope since we can do different things to improve our society—and participating in social entrepreneurship programmes in Singapore is one of them.

For as long as I remember, I always want to extend a helping hand to everyone around me. I like to offer my assistance at home and school to finish tasks quickly and efficiently while preventing people, especially my loved ones, from having an overwhelming number of duties and responsibilities. After learning about the world’s situation in school, I wanted to do everything I could to make a difference in our society. I started researching the different ways to help local and international communities, which is how I learned about social enterprise groups and activities in Singapore.

Learning About Singapore International Foundation

While researching everything I can do to resolve or relieve the effects of social, environmental, and cultural issues, I learned about the Singapore International Foundation and its social enterprise grant and other programmes. I have heard about the organisation before, but I only learned about its activities recently.

Like other social entrepreneurship groups in Singapore, the Singapore International Foundation holds regular programmes for local and international communities to provide young learners and changemakers like me with industry experiences, insight exchange, and even a mentor. These activities help us gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make our social entrepreneurship projects successful while exposing us to the global community.

Participating In A Two-Day Entrepreneurship Programme

After learning about the Singapore International Foundation and everything they do to help young social entrepreneurs achieve their goals, I signed up for their social entrepreneurship program. Admittedly, I felt anxious while registering—but I also got excited from thinking about the journey I was about to embark on that can make the world a better place.

The sign-up process is not as complicated as I thought. Within a few minutes on their website, I became one of the lucky participants of their two-day social enterprise programme in Singapore to provide me with what to achieve my aspirations for troubled communities in society. The most challenging part of their activity was to get over my anxiety about joining a programme with a group of strangers that I may find intimidating. I was also worried about not knowing the exact situations that may transpire during the programme.

But as soon as I arrived at the venue, my anxieties slowly disappeared. The participants were nothing but kind, and they were among the most brilliant individuals I have ever met. Mentors of the two-day social enterprise programme were also experts in the field, and they gave us some of the best pieces of advice that can help aspiring changemakers like me make a difference in this world. I plan to sign up for their eight-month programme soon, and you should join me in resolving issues in our communities and the environment one step at a time.
